Changing the world, one project at a time
First To Our Community
First to our Community is a program created to introduce FIRST to local elementary-middle school students. After a thorough explanation of each competition, we guide the interested students into forming their own First Lego League and First Tech Challenge teams. First to our Community fosters community motivation by inspiring hands-on learning, cultivating STEM interest, and preparing young minds for future technological challenges.
Ukrainian Coding Classes
After the war began in Ukraine, our team knew we had the ability to provide opportunity to those less fortunate than us, so we took action. We began teaching weekly python coding classes to interested students living in Ukraine through our zoom program. Our 8 week long course provided our students a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of python to prepare them for their future careers.
Robotics For Change
In our robotics for change program, we used our experience to teach the future generation of First competitors an introductory level course on robot development and creation. Through this project, we give back to our community and inspire the next generation of First to start their own robotics teams with a strong foundation.
Overdrive to the Community
In our program, Overdrive to the Community, our team has brought First to our local community through live, in-person demonstrations of our previous season's robot. We allow children to drive our robot and teach them the basic controls. After they had driven, we handed their parents flyers containing information about First, so they had the information to create their own team. We host this event weekly at our local community park at Lake Elizabeth.
